Essentials at a glance

• Wash inside out, on a gentle cycle with cold water and similar colors.
• Use a mild detergent; avoid bleach and harsh stain removers.
• Skip the dryer. Hang to dry; lay knits flat to keep their shape.
• Steam or iron on low heat; do not wring or twist.
• Store knits folded; hang woven pieces on wide wooden hangers.

Fabric-by-fabric care

• Cotton & cotton blends
  • Machine wash cold, gentle. Wash inside out to reduce fading.
  • Hang to dry; light steam to smooth.
• Viscose / Lyocell
  • Hand wash or machine gentle in a mesh bag, cold water only.
  • Reshape while damp and hang to dry; low‑heat steam from the inside.
• Linen
  • Machine wash cold, gentle. Remove promptly.
  • Air dry; steam while slightly damp for a crisp finish.
• Knits & ribbed sweaters
  • Hand wash or machine gentle in a mesh bag, cold water.
  • Lay flat to dry; never hang wet. Use a fabric shaver for pills.
• Denim
  • Turn inside out; wash cold, infrequently. No fabric softener.
  • Hang to dry. Steam to release creases; do not bleach.
• Delicate trims & hardware
  • Use mesh bags and close zippers before washing.
  • Spot clean hardware and dry immediately after washing.

Quick stain guide

• Oil/grease: Cover with baking soda/cornstarch 10–15 min, brush off, pre‑treat, wash cold.
• Makeup/sunscreen: Dab (don’t rub) with mild detergent + cold water; repeat, then wash.
• Coffee/tea: Rinse cold from the back, pre‑treat, wash cold.
• Deodorant marks: Gently rub with a dry cloth or a piece of the same fabric.

Storage & longevity

• Use cedar blocks/sachets; avoid plastic for long‑term storage.
• Give garments breathing room—don’t overpack closets.
• Travel: Roll or fold with tissue; hang and steam on arrival.
